About the Library
The Westmoreland Public Library was started in 1987 and was then located in the lower end of the V.F.W. building. It was first staffed by volunteers. Ms. Willie Ruth Borders became the library's director in October, 1987.
Through a group of people that later became known as the "Friends of the Library", money was raised to build Westmoreland's current library. The doors to this new library opened in July, 1991.
The library has grown since those days, and today it is in the process of adding a children's room.
