The mission of the Washburn Public Library is to provide the residents of the City of Washburn and its surrounding communities quality books, media, and programs that serve their informational, educational, and recreational needs.

The Washburn Public Library was founded in 1885 and was housed in the first City Hall which was located at the corner of First Avenue East and Bayfield Street. Today, the library is a bustling center of activity. It is used by a variety of people for many different purposes: picture and board books give a jump-start to reading for children, current novels and popular non-fiction titles entertain regular readers, how-to books give homeowners instruction on repairs or renovation, books on tape and CD for distance drivers, adult students utilize high-speed Internet access to complete long distance coursework along with our proctoring services and many enjoy our offbeat collection of videos, DVDs and CDs.
