The Terryville Library is a public library serving the Town of Plymouth, which includes the villages of Plymouth, Terryville and Pequabuck.

The purpose of the Terryville Public Library is to promote informed citizenship, continuous self-education, and enriched personal lives through library service designed to meet the educational, informational, cultural, and recreational needs of the community.

Service Goals:
To select, organize, and make available print and non-print materials for community use;

To provide guidance for the use of these materials and assistance in library use through library personnel;

To initiate programs, exhibits, publicity, and promotional items such as booklists to stimulate use of the library and enlighten people of all ages;

To secure requested information and materials beyond the library's own resources through interlibrary loan and patron referral: to extend the resources of the library beyond those which are owned by or contained within it;

To cooperate with other community agencies, organizations and institutions for the following reasons:

To bring the library's services directly into the community

To promote community use and awareness of the library

To improve the Board, Staff and Friends awareness of community needs and interests and thus contribute to effective library planning.

Administrative Goals:
To employ staff adequate in number and qualifications to carry out the library's program of service;

To provide physical facilities that offer the community a compelling reason to enter, look, listen, learn and enjoy;

To seek funding adequate for a planned program of library service and to achieve maximum effect from appropriated funds;

To engage in continuous planning, implementation and evaluation of library services;

To balance services other age and special interest groups represented in the community;

To implement rules and procedures for library use that ensure patron access to library materials;

To pursue an active public relations program to ensure community awareness of library services;

To establish cooperative relationships with local libraries, regional, CLSU's and the State Library in order to achieve service or cost benefits;

To cooperate with but not perform the functions of school or other institutional libraries which should themselves meet special needs.
