About

The Steeleville Reading Center was established in 1971 under the sponsorship of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and with the financial support of the Village of Steeleville.

On November 3, 1992, the Steeleville Area Public Library District was created! The district now encompasses the Village of Steeleville, the Village of Percy and the surrounding countryside.

In January 2008, the Village of Steeleville, Steeleville CUSD 138 and the Steeleville Area Public Library were proud to open the doors to the new library building.

Six Library Directors have served at the facility: Hazel Williamson: 1971 to 1975, Eileen Tegtmeyer from 1975 to 2004, Mildred Dobyns from 2004 to 2009, Christine Kamprath from 2009 to 2012, John Hostert 2012 to 2014, and Sarah Neal 2014 to present.

Steeleville Area Public Library is not affiliated with AmericanTowns Media
