The Starke County Public Library (SCPL) taxing district is comprised of eight of the nine townships in Starke County, namely California, Center, Davis, Jackson, North Bend, Oregon, Railroad, and Washington. Wayne Township and the town of North Judson are served by the North Judson-Wayne Township Library. SCPL has four locations. The main library, The Henry F. Schricker Library, is located in Knox. The three branches are located in Hamlet, Koontz Lake and San Pierre. The population served by SCPL is 18,569 (2000 census).
