About Us:

The Kathryn Linnemann Branch, named after Miss Kathryn Linnemann who started library service in St. Charles in 1913.  In keeping with our namesake, the Kathryn Linnemann Branch specializes in Local History and Genealogy and provides professional staff to assist with research and a special, indepth collection.  The branch opened in its current location in 1982 and was extensively renovated in 2008.  The branch is approximately 28,600 square feet and houses a collection of about 200,000 items.  We have a beautiful reading area with a fireplace as well as lots of other comfortable lounge seating including booths.  We also have the largest collection of Spanish language materials available in the Library District.  Our cheerful Children’s area features Early Literacy computers and a special program room.   We offer many amenities for our customers including a drive up book drop, pick up window, small study rooms, an electric cart and walker, and a beverage/snack area.  I hope you will visit the Kathryn Linnemann Branch soon.  Plan to stay awhile and enjoy the branch.

The Kathryn Linnemann Branch is pleased to offer the AWE Early Literacy Station, a self contained, educational computer station with carefully selected programs for children aged 2-10. Located in the Children's Department, this touch screen computer contains over 50 top rated fun, educational games. The library offers the literacy station bilingual edition, with programs available in English and Spanish.
