About Us:
Located on 26 acres of land at Truxel Road and Bannon Creek Drive, the new South Natomas Library opened on October 13, 2001. The library was built in conjunction with the Natomas Community Center and currently serves both North and South Natomas. A community park and children's playground will surround the buildings following the next phase of development.
The 13,615 square foot library features 24 public access computers, a self check out machine, and a community room for public use. Separate reading areas are provided for children and young adults, and a quiet study area is available for students and participants of the Sacramento Public Library literacy program. The collection consists of more than 60,000 books, periodicals, videos, audio books, and CDs. The branch also offers materials in Spanish, Russian, Chinese, and Vietnamese.
The library hosts a variety of programs for children and adults. Among these are weekly preschool story times, offered Thursday mornings and Tuesday evenings. The library also hosts a series of toddler story times, as well as a number of special programs for school age children.
The South Natomas Library has an active Affiliate Friends group. The Friends sponsor many library programs, including genealogy workshops, poetry readings, puppet shows, and concerts. Through community donations and a semi-annual book sale, the South Natomas Friends provide valuable financial support to the library. The Friends welcome new members and appreciate the many community volunteers who generously donate their time in support of the South Natomas Library.
