Santa Cruz Public Library - Boulder Creek Branch Library

The Boulder Creek Branch is located in the redwoods just off Highway 9 in Boulder Creek. The 4600 square feet branch has a large collection of adult fiction, genre fiction and non-fiction, as well as books on tape. The children's room is home to the Anne Gulliver picture book collection, a large print juvenile fiction collection as well as a core collection of juvenile titles. At the Library you can access the Internet, search several library-purchased databases, and request items from other branch libraries.

The branch has a periodical reading room, a young adult room, a large juvenile room, a community meeting room and a 150 seat outdoor amphitheater. The community room and amphitheater lend themselves to a wide variety of performing arts both adult and juvenile. The community room serves as an art gallery for works by local artists, as well. There is an enclosed deck off the circulation and reference area with a double redwood tree in the center.

The prize winning building was designed by architects Peter Calthorpe and Jeff Oberdorfer, with local input from three community workshops. The branch houses an original floor mosaic created by potters, Dan and Laurie Hennig; a memorial stained glass window created by artist Virginia Fordice; ceramic masks made by Julie Mackie; and stained glass pictures of Winnie-the Pooh characters made by Gail Heagerty, all local artists.
