San Jose Public Library - Hillview Branch Library

Welcome to the Hillview Branch Library, which has served East San José since 1965. The current facility, constructed under the Branch Library Development Program, opened in 2007. The library provides educational resources and recreational opportunities serving the needs and interests of a culturally diverse community, including a strong collection of media materials, special language items, and a large teen room. Free WiFi and Internet access is available during library hours. With its location in the heart of San Jose's eastside, Hillview Branch offers vital resources to its multiethnic service population. Hillview is a neighbor to the HankLopezCommunity Center and the expansive HillviewPark, with Reid-Hillview Airport just across Ocala Avenue. For more information, visit www.sjlibrary.org.

In 2000, a state-of-the-art Computer Lab, provided by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, was constructed at Hillview. The lab consists of ten PC's and an instructor PC attached to a big screen presentation device.

The surrounding neighborhoods hold some 10 elementary, 3 middle and 2 high schools all in close proximity to our library. With such a concentrated number of schools in the area, Hillview serves an important role in providing curriculum support materials for our school-aged patrons. In addition to our English-language materials, our library offers modestly sizeable adult collections in Spanish and Vietnamese, both extensively used; a Chinese collection; and a children's collection in Spanish. A Youth Services program of holiday crafts is held one Saturday a month.

Materials checked out from any San José Public Library branch can be returned at Hillview. For your convenience, we have a book drop to the right of the library's entrance as well as a drive-up book drop in the rear of the building (enter from Ocala and turn to exit on Adrian).
