Welcome to the Educational Park Branch Library, which has served East San José since 1976. The Educational Park Branch Library is located on the campus of Independence High School, making us a magnet for teenagers during the after-school hours. We also serve as the primary information center for the Independence Adult School and Academia Calmecac, neither of which has a school library on their premises. We serve the Silicon Valley community as a whole, but our immediate neighborhood consists of 77,000 San José residents in zip codes 95133 and 95116. Thirty-eight percent of our users speak Spanish, and twenty-seven percent speak Vietnamese. Free WiFi and Internet access is available during library hours. Overfelt Gardens, a City park with a Chinese cultural garden is within easy walking distance. For more information, visit www.sjlibrary.org.
The library provides relevant educational resources and recreational opportunities serving the needs and interests of a culturally diverse community. We offer a wide selection of media and print materials in Chinese, Vietnamese, and Spanish, as well as resources in Gujarati, Hawaiian, Hindi, Japanese, Khmer, Panjabi and Tagalog. We're ready to assist you in those languages; please call us before your visit to make sure the staff member you need is on duty.
In addition to our storytimes and other children's programming, we offer several events for adults each week including Conversation Clubs to practice your English, and classes about the Internet, Microsoft Word and the library catalog.
