San Antonio Cody Library
The Edmund Cody Branch Library was the 14th branch of the San Antonio Public Library and opened April 29, 1984 on land donated by the Northside School District. The branch was named in honor of Mr. Edmund Cody who served as the Superintendent of the Northside School District for seventeen years and was instrumental in promoting the community library. Mr. Cody is a native of South Carolina and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and Furman University in South Carolina with a masters degree in educational administration from Trinity University.Renovation of Cody Branch, under 1989 bond election funding, began in May of 1998 and the branch was re-opened on August 23, 1999. Additional land for renovation was donated again by the Northside School District. The branch was expanded over 3,000 square feet with a new meeting room and study room added and general renovation of the branch with a new roof and expanded HVAC system.
