The original Riverdale Branch Library opened on Aug. 19, 1991 as the 10th service location in the Lee County Library System. In 2007, a new site was picked and library designed to fit the growing community. The new Riverdale Branch Library opened in January 2009. It is a 7,200-square-foot facility with a collection of over 45,000 items and 16 public access computers. Features new to the Riverdale Branch Library include separate areas for adults, children and teens; increased meeting room space with built-in storage and sink; specially designed acoustical ceilings; reading chairs with swing out worktops; two self-check machines; wireless access; and Radio Frequency Identification of materials.
