About Us:

The Ralph Ellison Library opened in its current location in 1975. Named in honor of Oklahoma City native and acclaimed author Ralph Ellison, this library is located in one of Oklahoma’s historically black neighborhoods. Customers rely on the library to find basic information about voting, taxes, tutoring, government assistance, and a variety of other fundamental needs. In addition, the library serves a dynamic population of motivated young adults, college students, business people, authors, and community leaders.

Our Programs:

  • Annual summer reading program
  • Black History Month events in February
  • Jazz concerts
  • Juneteenth celebration
  • Monthly flyers with detailed information are available in the library
  • AARP and VITA provide tax assistance to customers on an annual basis

Our Collection:

  • Tens of thousands of fiction and nonfiction titles for all ages available as hardback or paperback books, magazines, newspapers, books on CD and music CDs, DVDs, Playaways, and more
  • Reference materials for in-library use
  • Vertical files
