The Prospect Area Library was founded in 1922 by a group of concerned citizens in the Prospect Women's Club, who, not coincidentally, still make up the majority of Board Members to this very day. After its founding, the library was temporarily housed in private homes, store fronts, community centers and more for nearly five decades before finding a permanent home. In 1971, a small brick library was dedicated on Main Street, Prospect. An extension was added in 1990 and today we’re “bursting at the seams.”
