History :

The first Polo library opened in a former law office in1871, with funds and materials donated from the community. The existing structure was built in 1903-1904 in the same place as the original structure, using a grant from the Andrew Carnegie Foundation. The library is one of several Illinois Carnegie Libraries listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Through the years the library has continued to serve the Polo's informational, educational, and social needs.
