The Pleasant Valley Free Library is located on Route 44, approximately 5 miles west of the Taconic Parkway.
The Library first opened its doors to the public on August 27, 1903. Dedicated to serving the information and recreation needs of Pleasant Valley and Salt Point, anyone with a library card from the Mid-Hudson Library System can avail themselves of all this library has to offer.
Most books are allowed to be checked out for 3 weeks, and renewable for another three if there are no holds on them. The exception to this is select titles on the Best-Seller list. These are non-renewable and only allowed to be checked out for 1 week.
There are fiction and non-fiction videos, DVDs and magazines available for children and adults and these have a 1 week due date.
Books-on-Cassette, Books-on-CD and CD-ROMs are allowed to be taken home for 3 weeks. The library is part of the InterLibrary Loan system and can get any book, video, or CD a patron would like. If a book is not in at the moment, or the library does not own it, we would be happy to place an InterLibrary Loan for you. Most books can be made available within a week.
The Pleasant Valley Free Library is governed by a Board of Trustees made up of possibly 15 members.
