About Us:
Located across from Oliver W. Holmes Middle School at 2008 E. Kiest Boulevard, the Paul Laurence Dunbar Lancaster Kiest Branch was opened in spring 2006. Originally opened in 1931 in the original Freedman's Town neighborhood, the library then became the South Oak Cliff Branch in 1964, at the corner of Lancaster Road and Kiest Boulevard. Today, the almost 18,000 square-feet facility features mosaic tiles and a "spirit quilt" of famous African Americans designed by artist Earline M. Green, the Paul Laurence Dunbar Brick walkway, 20 public computers, wi-fi internet access, weekly story time and a variety of adult programs.
