About Us :

The Palisades Neighborhood Library at 4901 V Streets, N.W. opened to the public on November 20, 1964. The building is the second home of the library which was started as a subbranch in a one room school house in 1928. As the sixth oldest branch of the D.C. Public Library this subbranch was significant for its thirty-six years of service to the Palisades community.  Today, the Palisades Neighborhood Library lends nearly 80,000 booksannually and offers special collections in neighborhood history and adult basic education. It has a collection of National Geographic Magazines from March 1942 to the present. Its programs include films and story times for children and a Time for Two program for very young children. Its meeting rooms are heavily booked in evening hours for community groups including a book club, writers' group, investment group, stamp club and an alumni organization of the Western-Duke Ellington High School.
