The Northland Library Cooperative is a non-profit resource sharing network of public libraries in over 6000 square miles of
nine counties in northern lower Michigan: Alcona, Alpena, Charlevoix, Cheboygan,
Emmet, Montmorency, Oscoda, Otsego, and Presque Isle. Nineteen public libraries
with 14 branches serve the 187,000 residents of this mostly rural area.
Northland Mission Statement:
The Northland Library Cooperative is a group of public libraries in Northern Michigan who operate together in areas of common interest and benefit. The priorities of the Cooperative include:
Linking library users to resources not available locally through interlibrary loan and resource sharing services
Serving as advocates for member libraries at local, state, and national levels to represent their special interests and to secure adequate and stable funding.
Providing consultant services to local libraries in a variety of areas and facilitating communication and relationships among member libraries.
Assisting staff in member libraries to improve professional skills.
