About Us :

The Missaukee District Library was created in 1998, but its history actually stretches back to the beginning of the 20th century. The first library in Lake City was founded by the local chapter of the Federated Women's Club. This ambitious group of ladies raised funds for books, a location above a local storefront, and the day-to-day operations of the library. They were, in fact, the first librarians in the county.
