To provide superior public library services responsive to the educational, informational, recreational, and cultural needs of the citizens of Falls Church. By reciprocal agreement, Falls Church citizens may also use the facilities of most other jurisdiction in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, and their citizens may use ours.
Organization: The library is established under Chapter 17 of the City Code, which also provides for a library board of trustees to establish policies, recommend a budget, and the like. Policies adopted by the Board cover confidentiality of patron records, conduct in the library, displays and exhibits, gifts and donations, and materials selection; there is also a Five-Year Plan as required by the Library of Virginia. The Staff has developed Public Service Guidelines and Collection Development Plan.
