Founded in 1923, the Marion County Public Library is getting close to its 100 year anniversary. We offer free circulation of print books, audio books, music cds and movies, all appealing to an array of ages. There are board books and picture books in the early reader section, juvenile-specific and young adult specific fiction and graphic novels, combined juvenile and young adult non-fiction and biography, and adult fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels and biography. We also have an ever-expanding collection of large print titles, as well as sections for classic literature, paperbacks, romance, westerns and over-sized non-fiction. Additionally, there are a variety of texts available in our Kentucky section, and our genealogy books are housed in their own research room. The library is funded off a millage property tax, as the majority of public libraries across the Commonwealth of Kentucky. This money is used to pay our librarians, expand our collection and pay our daily operating expenses.
