The mission of LaSalle Parish Library is to offer informational, educational, recreational and cultural enrichment opportunities for the residents of LaSalle Parish, Louisiana.

History :
As far back as 1934 interested citizens were inquiring with the Louisiana State Library about establishing library service in LaSalle Parish. In 1947, the LaSalle Parish Police Jury passed an Ordinance of Establishment as the first step toward a parish library. In 1952 the citizens of LaSalle Parish voted in a maintenance tax for the LaSalle Parish Library.

In 1960 a special two year building tax was voted in to house the headquarters branch in Jena and a branch in Olla. The buildings were occupied in 1963. LaSalle Parish citizens have continued to support their library ever since!
