About Us:

Located in the heart of historic Lakewood in East Dallas, the Lakewood Branch has been in existence since 1938. The present location on Worth street opened in 1970 and the library grounds contain two large steel sculptures named "Malthusian Concept" and "Descending Spheres." The sculptures were designed by J. Brough Miller and are sources of delight for adults and children and also serve as landmarks for the library. The Lakewood Branch is noted for the annual Lakewood Art Show which originated in 1962. Judges select winners in each category and a reception is held for all participants.
