 Library Cards are free for everyone over age 6. If you have lost your card, there is a $3.00 charge for a replacement. In addition to use at the Library in Kingwood and Terra Alta, cards can be used at more than 40 libraries in these counties: Barbour, Braxton, Brooke, Dodderidge, Gilmer, Hancock, Harrison, Marshall, Monongalia, Ohio, Randolph, Tucker, Tyler, Upshur, Webster, Wetzel.

All library materials have a 14 day checkout period with 2 renewals allowed per item (6 weeks total). You may call to renew materials, renew online or come into the library. To renew online return to the main page and click on search our catalog. Click on "My Account" and follow instructions.

All written materials (books magazines, etc.) have a fine of 10 cents per day for each item. Videos and Audios are assessed a fine of $1.00 per day. The maximum fine is $5.00 for each item.

We offer free Internet access. We have 4 workstations and wireless internet available on a first come- first serve basis. There is a time limit of one hour.

We have books, magazines, record albums, videos, books-on-tape, cassettes, filmstrips and many reference materials. We also offer Inter-library loans upon request- you pay return postage.

We have a copy service at a cost of 25 cents per page and we also send and receive faxes. Ask about our fax rates at the circulation desk. We have a microfilm reader/printer for public use. Cost per copy is 25 cents.

We also supply free income tax forms to the general public throughout the tax season. If we don't have it, we can get it for you at a cost of 25 cents per page.

If you are doing genealogical research we have many books that deal with the family lineage of Prestonians and West Virginia History. We have cemetery records books, census records and more. See a library employee for more information about our genealogy section.
