About Us:

In continuous operation since 1905, the Jefferson County R.J. Bailar Public Library has been serving the information needs of the people of Monticello and Jefferson County for more than 110 years. A “beacon” for North Florida’s rural libraries (Tallahassee Democrat) , our goal is to provide every Jefferson County resident with access to the cultural products of society in order to promote reading, love of literature, informed citizenship and community spirit. We offer an outstanding collection of books, critically acclaimed DVDs, audiobooks and ebooks; recently renovated, peaceful reading rooms; a state-of-the-art computer lab and free wifi.

Our library also serves a community center, providing access to social services, e-government, free meeting rooms, job assistance, classes and more through our network of community partnerships.

JCPL is a member of the Wilderness Coast Public Libraries consortium. We share a catalog and other resources with two other rural library systems: our sister libraries Franklin County Public Library and Wakulla County Public Library. With our daily courier service, books from these libraries could be available for pick up in a few days.
