Mission:

The Huron Public Library exists to provide to the City and Erie County free and public access to the widest possible variety of information and to encourage the existence of intellectual and cultural life within this area. With continuous sensitivity to the changing needs of the community, the Library adapts its service to meet these needs.

Strategic Plan:

The Library utilizes an on-going strategic planning process that aligns annual operational goals and objectives with its institutional mission.

Since 1988 the Huron Public Library has utilized an ongoing long-range planning process to guide the expenditure of library resources towards identified community needs.

Our most recent planning exercise commenced in the spring of 2011 and concluded in the fall of the same year. The working documents that resulted from that process are posted here for community viewing.

The development of a powerful strategic plan requires participation from the broadest possible mix of citizens, institutions, organizations, businesses and community groups living and interacting within the Library's service area. These partnerships extend beyong the planning process itself into the ongoing development and redevelopment of Library serices. Through this process the Library and the community gain a sense of needs and possibilities which inform an evolving mix of community-based goals and objectves.

We thank everyone who participated in our recent and past planning efforts and we look forward to working with you through the implementation of our current plan.
