The Hollydale Library was founded in 1929, apparently in a house on Paramount Boulevard. Later the library was moved to a commercial building on Main Street near Garfield Avenue. In 1945, the library lost its lease and was closed. It was reopened in May 1948 in the same building with a larger space. Finally, a permanent home was built at the present location. The new library building opened for service in November 1966.

The current collection totals 58,970 volumes, 78 magazine and newspaper subscriptions, 3,548 audio recordings, and 3,813 video and DVD recordings. The library provides materials in English and Spanish.
