History

The Hicksville Public Library, chartered in l926 to serve a rural community of 6,000, has developed into one of the largest libraries in Nassau County serving more than 40,000 people. Originally located in the Nicholai Street School, demolished in the 1960's. The library has been in its present location since 1950. We have expanded four times, most recently in 1996.
