Mission:

Our library's mission is to enhance the lives of our community members by providing access to information and promoting reading and literacy.

About Us:

Jefferson Free Library District was established in 1974 including Hamer Public, Menan Public and Terreton Public Library.  All the libraries were housed in the elementary schools of the area.  In 1978 the public library moved to the city building in Mud Lake with a name change to Heart of the Valley Public Library.  They resided there until Nov. 1988 when the library was invited to move back to the elementary school.  A new Jr. High addition was built, with a media center that could house the combined school/public libraries. The Terreton Elem./Jr. High students helped to move 10,000 books from the old HVPL into the new media center, where it is still located today.  The library has grown to about 21,391 items.
