About Us:

The Hart County Public Library is an information and learning center, providing access to current and popular materials for all citizens.  Emphasis is on meeting the need for information and answers to questions on a broad array of topics, and creating excitement about reading and lifelong learning.  The library works closely with other organizations and businesses in order to be a community activities center.  We strive to maintain an updated collection of books, materials and equipment for patron use.

Over the past ten years we have received numerous grants to provide improved services and materials.  Although we are a small rural library, we have maintained an enhanced rating from the state due to our level of policy, service, and programs.  We have received national recognition for our health programs.

The library is governed by a Board of Trustees made up of five local citizens.  The Board meets on the second Monday of each month at the Library.

The Hart County Public Library is a popular materials center with over 7,000 registered users, and a collection of over 35,000 books, videos, CDs, and DVDs.  We subscribe to approximately 100 magazines.  We have a strong bookmobile program which serves a large rural population.  We reach many young people through our story hour and summer reading programs.

Library staff takes programs into the schools to teach the care of books and encourage youngsters to read and participate in library programs.  We are actively involved with activities within the community.  The meeting room is utilized daily by over 60 different groups per year.  We provide A-V equipment for patron and business use.  We provide free internet access for patrons on 4 public access computers.  Our materials are automated and may be accessed using either the card catalog or the OPAC system.  We offer inner library loan, so patrons have access to worldwide materials.  We offer - Fax and copy services.
