Mission Statement:

The Purpose of the Harrison County Public Library, a tax supported public service organization, is to provide a comprehensive collection of materials in a variety of media that records knowledge, ideas and culture in an attempt to meet the informational, professional, cultural, recreational, and educational needs of all the community's residents, regardless of age or formal schooling. Particular emphasis is placed on supporting students at all academic levels and on stimulating young Youth interests and appreciation for reading and learning, and extending outreach services for special needs and special groups.

The Library assembles, preserves, organizes, and offers guidance in the use of printed, audio-visual, machine readable, computer, digital and other electronic materials that enable residents to:

Find reliable and current information and keep pace with significant ideas and progress in all fields of knowledge.

Become more familiar with their cultural heritage and with the history and literary heritage of the local community.

Supplement formal study and encourage informal self-education to include a literacy tutoring program.

Become more enlightened citizens.

Develop their creative capacities and increase their appreciation of the arts, literature and sciences.

Become more capable in their occupations.

Promote personal and social well-being through an enjoyment of reading.
