History:

In 1895 the ladies of the Gove community started a city library. The city library has had many "homes" in the intervening years, but has been kept alive by various womens clubs in the Gove Community and by those with a passion for libraries and reading. At present it is housed in the old Gove grade school building in the south part of town, a location which it has resided at since fall, 1961.
