About Us:

The Glenwood Springs branch library is a hub for the community as well as a popular stop for tourists, who come to the library seeking information and Internet access via the public computers or wi-fi. The library features many youth programs including Toddler Storytime, Bilingual Preschool Storytime, After School Club, Middle School Book Club, and Paws to Read. It also provides teens with many after school activities such as Teen Advisors Group, Teen Cooking Club, Teen Bloggers Club, Teen Book Club, and weekly video gaming. Along with the other branches the Glenwood Springs Branch hosts a large summer reading program for all ages, offering a multitude of programs and prizes for readers. Various adult programming is also offered, including the annual Winter Lecture Series, sponsored by the Friends of the Library and the Frontier Historical Society, and a monthly Scrabble Club in addition to special events hosted throughout the year.

Glenwood Springs became a branch of Garfield County Libraries in 1969.  Partnering with Colorado Mountain College, construction on the new Glenwood Springs branch was completed in September 2013.  The building is comprised of a two stories; 14,000ft of finished library space on the first floor, and an unfinished second floor with 4,000 sq ft of library space and 10,000 sq ft of space for CMC classes and offices.  In addition, a community plaza provides a place for the public to relax and enjoy the Colorado sunshine.  Inside, the library features a 250 person meeting space, three study rooms, and a small conference room for public use.  Separate adult, teen, and children areas are also defined, as well as a quiet reading room and computer zone.  Running along the walls, a picture rail offers the community a space for art exhibitions.

Overlooking the parking garage and activity on 9th street is children's area, complete with computers, fun furnishings and a unique early learning installation created by the Burgeon Group of Phoenix. For teens, The library features a special area with computers, comfortable chairs and their own study room. Near the cozy fireplace adults are invited to sit back, relax and read, as well as peruse the special genealogy collection.
