The Gilbert Branch Library was established in 1988 in the old Gilbert Town Hall, operating 16 hours a week. In 1995, the name of the library was changed to the Gilbert - Summit Branch Library. The new library, located on Broad Street in Gilbert, first opened to the public in March 1996. The Library is open 33 hours per week with three employees.
The new library is a spacious 2,400 ft² building that includes a meeting area available for public organizations to use. Along with books, the library has a generous selection of reference materials, videos, magazines, book tapes and access to the Internet available for public use.
