Gibsonburg Branch Library joined the Birchard Public Library system in 1936. The village provided the building and the library provided the staff and collection and most furnishings. By 1985, the Friends of the Gibsonburg Library raised enough funds with the assistance of various groups and clubs in the community and a small loan to purchase the present building. With the successful passage of the library bond issue in 1987, Birchard Public Library paid the remaining debt. The Gibsonburg Village Council continues to provide water and several services to this branch library.
