Today the library is a department of the City of Georgetown in the division of Community Services. During FY 2006-07its budget is slightly more than $1 million.

The Georgetown Public Library houses and administers a collection of more than 80,000 items, including popular fiction and non-fiction for adults, youth, and children; classics; large-print materials; reference; books on cassette; videos; DVDs; music CDs; books on CD; literacy materials; books in Spanish; newspapers and magazines, to meet the life-long learning and reading interests of library users. Weekly story hours, a summer reading program, reference services, and public access to the Internet are a few of the services provided without cost to the public. Also, under the TexShare program, library users may go in person to borrow materials from other participating libraries in Texas.
