About the Library:

The library maintains a large collection of books on audio cassette, particularly the unabridged versions and is increasing its collection of unabridged books on CD. The video and DVD collections are very popular.

The library offers a selection of books both fiction and non-fiction for Adults and Children and a few materials for Teens. Classical and popular music for Adults and Teens as well as music for children is available on CD. The library maintains a small, but full service Children's Department. A professional Children's or Adult librarian is on duty during all open hours.

You will find the Gates Mills Library experience a truly unique blend of the past with the present.

The area now known as the village of Gates Mills was chosen by Holsey and Lucy Ann Gates as a mill site in 1826. Library service first came to the village in the mid 1920s via County Library Book Car. In 1929 a library was set up in a room in St. Christopher's Church. Private funding was used for furnishings and the librarian's salary while County Library supplied the books.

The Garden Club continues to furnish weekly flower arrangements for the library
