Our library is our community gathering place, utilized by thousands of our residents year year. And many thanks to the Friends of the Garden City Library and the Garden City Library Foundation who have provided over $250,000 in addtional funds for the library in the last five years
About Us:
The Garden City Library is part of the LYNX! Consortium, which is an inter-library network of southern Idaho. This inter-library network allows the patrons of any of the member libraries to use the services of all the LYNX! Consortium libraries. The Garden City Library is able to utilize LYNX! Consortium materials by placing holds on other LYNX! Consortium library's materials and having the library materials delivered and/or picked up by the LYNX! Consortium courier service.
The Garden City Library has a collection of fiction and non-fiction books 36,000 strong, our reference collection is about 460, audio books 3,000, music collection over 1,000, and DVD/Videos over 3,348.
The Garden City Library has Windows based software and computers. The Garden City Library public computer lab has twenty-eight public computers and eight children's computers. We also have eight tablets for in-house use in our Minnow Pond and Kids Zone children's areas.
The Garden City Library has a convenient self-checkout machine and a wonderful children's area. The Kids Zone has four computer stations with tree shaped panels and study desks with iPads to use. Our toddler area, The Minnow Pond, has four computer stations, 4 iPads, cognitive toys, comfortable seating for children and parents and children's level bookcases.
The north east section of the Garden City Library is our young adult area, the Teen Scene, has a flat screen television, Wii, soft chairs and seating for reading and tables for studying.
The Garden City Library has seventeen part time employees and five full time employees. The departments within the Garden City Library are Reference, which includes information, research, interlibrary loans, readers advisory and the computer lab; Circulation, which includes checkouts, holds, renewals, fines, volunteers and adult programs; Youth Services, which includes programs for children, teens and our outreach programs; Technical Services, which completes all processing and cataloging of our collection.
