Friends of the Baxter County Library

300 Library Hill

The Friends of the Baxter County Library aid in developing public understanding of the library and making it better known to the citizens of the community.  Friends provide funds that would not otherwise be available through membership dues, special contributions, and used book sales.  All proceeds are used to benefit the library - purchase furniture, equipments, books and materials and to provide scholarships for library staff.   Friends donate their time and hard work in our various programs and services.  Friends also encourage gifts of books and materials to the library.

Monthly, except in June, July and August, the Friends hold a program meeting for the interest of the members and their guests.  Their used book sales are held as a community service and fund raising project the third Thursday of February, May, August and November.   Dues of $5.00 per year are due each September and can be paid at any meeting or at the library desk

What is there not to love about our public library? From Artifact exhibits to Zuni cultural information, you can find it all. My daughter loves the Dinosaur exhibition as well as the children's section down stairs. It's a beautiful multilevel building that also accommodates everyone with access via elevator or stairs. A superb knowledgeable staff to help you find what you need to finish that report or find yourself a good read. Quiet, clean, filled to the hills with anything you may need for work or play. A great place to just relax and get yourself lost for a while.

What a wonderful place this library is! It is an unexpected gem in such a small community, with the friendliest staff you could ever hope for. They are truly passionate about reading, knowledge, and helping the community. They offer book clubs, lectures, tours, kids programs, mind strengthening exercises....the list goes on and on. Not to mention the delicious food and coffee at the Bookworm Cafe. The library is beautiful, modern, bright, and has many nooks and comfortable places to relax. Their selection of books, magazines, dvds, and audiobooks rivals any large city facility. You can even check out fishing poles and a tackle box. Seriously, go here!
