Friends of the Barberton Public Library

The Friends of the Barberton Public Library exists to help enrich the services and materials provided to the community by the library.  Through Friends support, additional programs and services that cannot be included in the Library's tax-supported budget are made possible. The Friends of the Library has two main sources of funding: the generous support of members who pay yearly dues and the revenues generated by book sales. 

The Friends established their first little free library at the Barberton Moose on November 4, 2016. The idea is to create a book exchange where you can take and leave a book as you are able. The Friends are working to establish three more little free libraries in Barberton, one on each side of town. 

Little free libraries are an international movement bringing a sense of community to different areas and giving people of all ages and backgrounds access to free materials to promote literacy. Little Free Library is a not-for-profit organization established by Todd Bol of Wisconsin in 2009, who created the idea of a little free library. As of June 2016, 40,000 little free libraries have been established.
