The Town of Dover has recognized the importance of a free public library for its citizens since 1894 when the first free town library was established in a room in the Town House. From its humble beginning of 498 books in 1894 to its present collection of nearly 63,000 items, the Library continues to fulfill its mission to the town and its citizens by offering access to electronic information, the best of traditional library services, as well as outstanding customer service.
