The David E. Vayner Branch Library was opened in June 1999 and, as the memorial plaque hanging at the library states is named for: "David E. Vayner, a member of the G. Ray Bodley class of 1991 and attended SUNY Canton. He was a sensitive young man who was unique in many different ways, but he was among the first of his generation locally to discover the wondrous world of information and communication available to us via the Internet. David died tragically at the age of 20 in June of 1993. The David E. Vayner Branch Library is dedicated in his memory by Oswego County Catholic Charities, "to those young people seeking knowledge and advancement in the world." During 2005 the Oswego County Catholic Charities made additional renovated space available to the Fulton Public Library, allowing us to almost double the size of the Vayner Library and change its designation from "resource room" to "branch library." With the addition of resources and computers it was possible to bring the Vayner Branch online with the SIRSI library automation system used by over 25 of the member libraries of the North Country Library System. Now, between the automated catalog and the resources linked from this website, the Vayner Branch, like the Carnegie Main Library, is a "library without walls," giving registered patrons access to literally millions of books, audio-visuals and other materials for borrowing as well as and the full text of thousands of periodicals through online subscription databases.
