Cumberland County Public Library - East Regional Branch
The East Regional Branch Library is a full service branch to over 23,000 people who live in eastern Cumberland County. The 21,000 square foot branch, opened February 13, 1999 and is located opposite Cape Fear High School on Clinton Road. This area of the county was serviced by two smaller branches- the Stedman Branch which operated from the restored 1,568 square foot railroad depot where it was relocated in 1975 and the East Fayetteville Branch which since 1981 occupied a 1,700 square foot storefront on Sapona Road. After successfully serving the residents of Cumberland County for more than 40 years the Stedman and East Fayetteville Branches closed their doors on Thursday, December 31, 1998 and reopened as the East Regional Branch.
The library's innovative design was done by Ferris, Shuller, Johnson and Lindstrom Architects of Fayetteville and features:
- Computer/technology room
- Story time room
- Separate children's area with CD-ROM and computer equipment
- Meeting room
- Conference room with seating for 10 people
- Quiet study room seats 12 people
- Public photocopier and FAX machine
- Parking for 200 vehicles
