About Us

The El Cerrito Library is a small community library, first built in 1949 and expanded to its current size in 1960. It serves a community of approximately 23,000 people, and is unique in that it is very close to three other library systems. The Library collection includes books in Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese, and also offers a wide range of videos, CDs, magazines, and recorded books. Children enjoy storytimes and special programs such as magicians and puppet shows, while adults can find interesting programs monthly including local author readings and slide lectures on a variety of topics.
