Columbus Grove Branch Library
History
The Columbus Grove Library, started in the township house in June of 1936, was a depression project of the National Youth Association. The book collection was provided by the Ottawa Library and local contributions. When that agency closed in 1940 the Ottawa Library placed collections in various local stores until 1943 when the Girl Scout Organization helped sponsor a branch library.
The branch had been in various locations downtown until 1979 when the village provided a permanent home for the library. Contributions from many local organizations, individuals, funding from the Putnam County District Library operating budget and our Columbus Grove Friends of the Library group made it possible to finish our new facility. With the support our town council and our Friends of the Library organization we have nearly doubled in size since that time.
