The Cissna Park Community Unit School District #6 in cooperation with Lincoln Trail Libraries System was the pilot site during 1990-91 for a model combined school and public library. Residents of the potential library district voted in April 1991 in favor of establishing the Cissna Park Community Library District, and the new public library's first tax levy was established in 1992. The LTLS Board approved membership for the newly-established public library effective July 1992. The public library contracts with Cissna Park Community Unit School District #6 for space and use of a jointly-supported collection and service program.
