The Cape Coral-Lee County Public Library is one of five regional libraries serving Lee County. The Spanish architecture of the building is distinctive and often remarked on. The library has an arts and humanities emphasis and is the only public library in the county that has the 34-volume Dictionary of Art. The Friends of the Library organization operates an art gallery with artwork by local artists changing monthly. There is a butterfly garden with fountain and several areas for quiet reading. There is a large meeting room, small conference room, public Internet access, and wireless and wired Internet access for laptops. The library serves a large youth population with a variety of free programming for toddlers through teens.
