History
The first Canyon Country Library opened on September 20, 1971 at 18536 Soledad Canyon Road and was the second permanent library facility operated by the County Public Library in the Santa Clarita Valley. At that time, Canyon Country Library replaced the Saugus Mobilibrary. The Mobilibrary was a cooperative venture between the Saugus Union Elementary District and the County Public Library. The 5,050 square-foot building was originally leased from Pierpont Warehouses Corporation, and in 1985, was purchased by the County Library. On November 17, 2001 the library was renamed the Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Library moving to a brand new 17,000 square foot facility (utilizing 12,864 square feet) at 18601 Soledad Canyon Road.
