Mission:

The Calcasieu Parish Public Library serves all the people who live in the parish with materials, information, and services through a network of branches that are conveniently located and easy to use. The Library strives to help people make informed decisions, enjoy their free time, and continue learning all their lives. The Library Board and Staff are committed to providing high quality, cost effective, equitable service that meets the needs of all parish residents.

About Us:

Library services began in 1901 with the founding of the Lake Charles Public Library and were expanded in 1944 when the Calcasieu Parish Library system was created. The libraries were merged in 1973 as the Calcasieu Parish Public Library and continue to enjoy broad public support for library services.

Calcasieu Parish Public Library is a member of Libraries Southwest, an organization of public, academic and school libraries dedicated to serving the library needs of Southwest Louisiana.  Calcasieu Parish Public Library has different branch locations within the parish.
